Information About User Registration

In order to use the Wisconsin Online Youth Risk Behavior Survey (OYRBS) web site, you will need to be a registered user. The site is open to Wisconsin school districts, private schools, tribes, CESA’s and county agencies (i.e., public health, human services, 51.42 boards). Using this site, you can gather and review student self-reported data on health risk behaviors, attitudes and perceptions, and protective factors.

There are three different types of user role, and when you register, you will be asked to choose which role applies to your situation:

Survey Administrator – There can only be one survey administrator per district or group. This user role serves as the liaison between the district/group and the Department of Public Instruction. The survey administrator has responsibility for:

  • Supervising the administration of all OYRBS surveys for their survey site.
  • Assigning and authorizing user accounts for the roles of survey creator and report viewer.
  • Monitoring the adherence to sound survey practices among all survey participants (e.g., survey proctors, survey creators).
  • Protecting the privacy of survey participants.

The survey administrator can also create surveys and view reports from completed surveys.

Survey Creator – Within a district or group, there could be several people who are designated as survey creators. The survey creator has the ability to create a student survey for middle school and/or high school students. They have the capacity to pick the timeframe for a survey, select survey questions, and the groups (e.g., schools) that will take the survey. The survey creator can view reports from the surveys completed per their selected group affiliation. In addition, this user role can add additional report viewers to the surveys they created.

Report Viewer – Report viewers have the ability to view reports per their selected group affiliation. Typically, a survey creator or administrator has to specifically grant access to a survey for a report viewer.
